Durdham Downs

This one is of Durdham Down. I cycled up a very long steep hill to get to the home of a woman I am giving drawing lessons to, and spotted that this was at the end of her road. I had a few minutes in between rain clouds and sat on a bench with my cup of tea beside me which I had poured from my trusty thermos. It was a very nice peaceful moment in the day!

Cristian's first post

As part as my personal blog I decided to start with a podcast with chilean artists talking about art, comics and graphic narrative. I didn't want to use photographs so I decided to use quick portrait of every invited artist. Just ink, brush and paper in the very old fashion way in no more or ten minutes. you can visit here: www.myillustrationlab.com/category/podcast/, unfortunatelly it is only in spanish.

Amy C: Sketch

This is a little series I drew on grid paper. Please excuse the quality: I'm in Nashville without my scanner.

Divya's first post

This was an experiment to test out this new sketchpaper I bought: very rough, cottony and recycled. It started with the eyes and ended with the flowers. While I loved pencilling in the lines on such coarse texture it was also very thin and flimsy, and hard to paint on.

Angela's first post - March 25

I don't know what to say about this. I started the background in Falmouth and it just sat around sort of stuck... Then, one day, I suddenly wanted to do something to it, so threw down some white paint and turned the board around until forms started to appear. Then I drew in the stuff I saw with brown, black and a little light blue.
:) I like it now and am glad it unstuck itself.

blossom under the M32, Eastville

I've set myself a little mental health project because I feel as if I've been withering in the hard city environment of brick, metal and concrete and the dirty trafficy air of Bristol. I soo miss the soft rolling green hills of Devon and the gorgeous sea air of Falmouth. Every day this week (well almost) I have set myself the task of going to a park or green space in the city and doing a sketch, even if it's just for two minutes. The results are not important (luckily!), but this is  my favourite of the sketches I've done so far. It went through an ugly stage when I made a mess with my new ink-tense blue and pink sticks, but then I attacked it with a black marker pen and white acrylic paint and now I like it!
